New Era Begins at Dartmouth-Hitchcock
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health system (D-H) moves into the future today, as Joanne M. Conroy, MD, begins her tenure as CEO and President of New Hampshire’s only academic health system.
“Today marks a true highlight of my career,” says Dr. Conroy. “When I walked through the doors of Dartmouth-Hitchcock this morning, I officially joined a community of health care professionals that I believe is second to none”
Conroy’s arrival is something of a homecoming. She is a 1977 graduate of Dartmouth College and fondly remembers her time in Hanover and the Upper Valley.
“It is wonderful to be back in a place I love. As the new President and CEO, I am committed to building upon the D-H tradition of excellence, and together we will strive to find new ways to improve the Dartmouth-Hitchcock experience for the people of Vermont and New Hampshire”
Conroy comes to D-H from Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA, where she served as CEO. Her career also includes leadership positions at the Medical University of South Carolina, Atlantic Health System, and the American Association of Medical Colleges.
She has received several awards and honors, including being named one of the top 25 Women in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine and one of the “130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders To Know” in 2015 and 2016 by Becker’s Hospital Review. She also holds several board positions and memberships in professional societies, and authored abstracts, book chapters, executive presentations, and numerous peer and non-peer reviewed articles.
