About $4.7 million worth of public infrastructure (mostly roads and culverts) was damaged in Vermont. Norwich and Thetford were both hit particularly hard. Damage in Norwich is estimated at $1.5 million. In Thetford the damage estimate stands at $589,000.
But the total damage cost for Norwich will increase as private landowners make repairs.
"This figure does not include personal property," said Norwich Town Manager Herb Durfee. " With assessment/repair work still underway, we think it’s possible the estimate possibly could exceed $2M.
