Many Roads damaged by heavy rains Saturday By Chandra Guyer

As many have come to find themselves stuck in their own driveways this morning. I myself must venture out to do my daily paper route for Valley News. I saw first hand the destruction the heavy rain caused. Some roads in the early morning hours were impassable. But as day break approached I noticed town crews and state truck, power company and phone company out on some heavily damaged roads trying to fix what they could. I also noticed volunteer fire departments out trying to do what they could to assist community members. Some places weren't so bad while others will need continuous work over the coming weeks. I caution everyone to slow down and use caution. Some roads are only one lane at this time. A lot of debris is in roads and crews are out trying to fix everything but it will take time. Please be curtious and patient with state and local crews who are working tirelessly and spending this holiday weekend away from their loved ones. Tucker Hill in Thetford Center was hit good and is open at this time but only one lane of traffic. While Poor Farm Rd was washed away crews have been working hard to fill it in. It is also open but some parts are very narrow. Check on neighbors, lend a hand, let's come together and help each other
