Family of Four flips through I-91 median in Wilder
Four taken to the hospital for observation
WILDER, VT - An SUV with New York plates slid sideways off the northbound lane of Interstate 91 around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and then, according to a witness, flipped over multiple times before coming to rest on its wheels right at the edge of the southbound lane.
Two adults and two children were transported by Hartford Ambulances to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for what state police said were largely precautionary reasons.
The SUV had just come through the cliffs south of Exit 12 and was on the downslope that includes the overpass bridges which cross Bugbee Street when the mishap occurred. It was raining heavily at the time and water was sheeting off the pavement.
There were several large divots in the median where the vehicle appeared to have caught and gouged out large chunks of muddy dirt before it stopped just across from the sign marking the entrance to Exit 12 on the southbound side of the highway.
