Coming in August: The Strafford Town House Forum
Readings and Conversations Presented by Authors, Poets, Naturalists and Musicians
Mark Thursdays in August on your calendars for four compelling presentations at the 2017 Strafford Town House Forum! Since 1985, the Forum has been a provocative reading and discussion series on four August evenings. This year's series will feature poets, fiction writers, naturalists, and musicians, with each presentation followed by conversations with the audience.
Previous presenters have included playwright Arthur Miller; economist John Kenneth Galbraith; governors Madeleine Kunin and Howard Dean; activist-authors Grace Paley and William Sloane Coffin; filmmaker John Sayles; poets Jane Hirshfield and David Budbill; novelists Russell Banks, Howard Frank Mosher, Archer Mayor, and Sue Miller; and five of Vermont's Poet Laureates.
The Strafford Town House is one of the oldest meeting houses in Vermont, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Strafford's Town Meeting has been held there every year since 1801.
