Go for the maple creamees, stay for some retail therapy

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Why not take a trip out to McNamara Farm in Plainfield, NH?

Definitely say yes to the maple sugar candy sprinkles.

Just a few minutes south of the hustle and bustle of West Lebanon it's the perfect opportunity to take a short and beautiful drive along an undeveloped section of the Connecticut River. You'll end up at a fully working farm with a retail space and maple creamees. (Go for the maple creamees, stay for the retail space and pastoral setting.)

To get there, head down 12A past Home Depot and the Transfer station, in a mile or so turn right onto River Road. Pass the Edgewater Farm greenhouses (or better yet, stop there and pick up some plants). Drive another mile or so and look for the little ice cream cone statue on the left. Turn into the driveway, park, enjoy.

A sample of the products made on site or locally and sold in the Mac's Maple retail shop.

The retail store offers MacNamara Dairy and Mac's Maple products as well as local honey, jam, cook books, locally roasted coffee, pottery and gift baskets and bags.

Inside the retail space

From their website:

"Our farm is a family owned and operated dairy farm, where we process and bottle our own milk in glass bottles. In between our daily farm chores of milking and feeding animals, we raise all of our own cow crops, we harvest most of the wood used to build our barns (including our new sugar house), the firewood to heat our homes, and fire our sugar arch, off our own land and we maintain sugar orchards. We are very busy down here on River Road, which has allowed all five of the third generation kids to come home and work on the farm.  On any given day you can come down to the farm and find brothers, Tom and Pat McNamara working along side their children, Liz, Jeff, Nate, Jason and Adam."
