Around an hour drive, these three museums offer plenty of fun for your children to let their imaginations roam freely.  Don't forget to check out the Montshire right here in the Upper Valley if you've never been (pictured in the featured image).

Keene: Cheshire Children's Museum

This museum is wonderful for role playing.  Kids can pretend to mail letters in the post office, emcee their own radio station, manage building at the construction zone, serve customers at the food truck, and more. I could imagine kids would be entertained for hours in a place like this.

Rutland: Wonderfeet

This museum includes a lego station, clay table, magnetic wall, and multiple role playing exhibits like a train: an airy and colorful place to play.  Looks like fun for all ages.  I like the variety of activities they offer.

Brattleboro: KidsPLAYce

This is another role playing place for your kids.  Let their imaginations run wild in the castle or pirate ship or they could get enjoy the hands on activities at the craft center.
For more information on these museums, other activities to do in the area, and more museum day trip ideas, check out my post: Children's Museums Near and Far.   Hopefully we can get someone to invest in a museum like these in the Upper Valley.  It would complement the Montshire well.
