Hello, weekend warriors. Don't forget this Saturday is Green Up Day. It's been almost 50 years since Gov. Deane Davis started this Vermont tradition to rid highways of litter. Roll up your sleeves and check our calendar for all Green Up events happening in this area.

Here are our picks for events this weekend:

BORDER COLLIES AND SHEEP SHEARING

WOODSTOCK

10AM-5PM

This event showcases herdsman, Steve Wetmore’s team of Border Collies herding sheep in the farm fields during narrated programs at 11:30 A.M., 1:30, and 3:30 P.M. each day.  It’s also the spring shearing of the farm’s Southdown ewes, taking place at 10:30 A.M. and 12:30, 2:30, and 4:30 P.M., along with spinning and carding demonstrations highlighting the skills needed to turn fleece into yarn. Hands-on wool craft activities will be on hand for all ages!

UPCYCLING: PLANTING IN A BOOT

EAST THETFORD

10AM-11PM

Join Michelle as she guides you through planting a colorful rubber “boot” and gives tips on “upcycling” old and found objects. You will get ideas on how to create fun and unique planters for your garden or porch. Boot provided (or bring your own found object) dirt and plants.

SUBLIME STRAWBERRY CAKE CLASS

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION

Acclaimed pastry chef and baking instructor, Gesine Bullock-Prado, will take you through the steps to making this beauty of a cake, from tender sponge layers to fruity mousse filling and a patisserie worth strawberry glaze. This will become your "go to" summer cake for all occasions.

CINDERELLA-THE ROYAL LUNCHEON

LEBANON

Make your Cinderella Ballet experience magical. Treat yourself and your children to a buffet luncheon of assorted sandwiches, fruit and desserts at Lebanon Ballet School before the Saturday and Sunday matinee performances at the Lebanon Opera House. Tiaras are optional, although young guests are encouraged to dress up for the occasion. Royal Luncheon Dates: Sat., May 6 at 11:30 and Sun., May 7 at 12:30
