Lyme man facing a felony charge following brief incident
WEST LEBANON, NH - A 21-year-old Lyme resident is facing a felony charge of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon after he allegedly pointed a handgun at another driver Sunday afternoon in the parking lot outside the Price Chopper in the Miracle Mile Plaza.
Dylan Derego left the area before police arrived but was stopped a short time later on Interstate 89 by a Lebanon officer who had been given a description of Derego's vehicle. Derego was subsequently released on $2,500 cash bail and is due in Grafton Superior Court on May 15th to formally answer the Class B felony charge.
"During the investigation, officers learned that Derego had taken issue with a car that had been parked in a handicap space," Lebanon Police said in a statement issued Tuesday, which continued "The driver of the parked car exited his vehicle and, as Derego was leaving, the two exchanged words. During the brief exchange Derego pulled and allegedly pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the other driver. Based on information gathered at the scene, there was no evidence that the other driver had a weapon or made any threats to justify Derego brandishing the handgun."
