Suspect In Sexual Assault Case Arrested on Felony Warrants
Alleged Incident Occurred in 2016
On April 27, Officers of the Claremont Police Department, working in conjunction with Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Thomas “Tommy” Edwards, 52, of Manchester, NH. Edwards was arrested in Manchester without incident.
Edwards was wanted on felony warrants charging him with Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault and Attempted Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault. Those charges stem from an alleged incident in Claremont during July 2016.
“The State alleges Edwards sexually assaulted a 14-year-old child through the application of superior physical strength,” said Claremont Police Chief Mark Chase.
Edwards was arraigned on April 28 in the Claremont District Court where bail was set at $100,000. The charges, both class “A” felonies, carry a maximum period of incarceration of 7 ½ to 15 years and a fine not to exceed $4,000.
Edwards will be back in Claremont District Court on May 8 at 1:00 p.m. for a probable cause hearing.
