Dinner and Dancing then Sunday grazing

It's Friday night and time to plan your weekend.  If it's not too late a reservation at Elixir is in order.  Ever since its arrival in town, this little gem has not disappointed.  Skip Symanski and Jane Carrier have been at the helm and with their bright, energetic staff, the service is always top notch.

Stepping through the main door I always feel that I have telepathed my way into another city.  There is definitely an urban feel with the rubescent walls, not to mention the star of the room : that huge, hyper-polished bar in warm whiskey tones- calling out to all drinkers! If you are lucky enough, you may also eat at the bar and enjoy the camaraderie of the fellow seated.  Elixir is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5pm until 9:30 pm.  A reservation is always a wise maneuver.

The menu changes but maintains delicious selections.  The mussels in red curry sauce have been on almost since the start and they are supreme...a little bread to soak up the rich liquid at the end, oh yum...The cocoa-dusted filet mignons are also classic in their Cabernet glaze; someone I know very well always chooses this one.  The truffled chicken liver mousse and the seared sea scallops are also highlights.  What I love about Elixir is its delivery of constancy.  The delicious memory of my scallops 'last time' are exactly the same 'next time.'

The telephone number is 802-281-7009 http://www.elixirrestaurant.com/contact.html

Now remember that you have just eaten in the old freight house and that right next door, you have the junction's newest addition, which is right click here!  Tonight they are having a dance party for the over-18 crowd with DJ Sean from Quechee.  Saturday night they are planning a rainbow dance celebration for the LGBT community and friends.  In general, this Freight House Hall bar and lounge has some fun musical events coming up.  Check out their Facebook page!

When you wake Sunday morning, do not forget that this is the Flavors of the Valley day and there is a line-up of amazing farms with even more amazing food on display at Hartford High School.  Click here for another look at Sunday's event.  That is 37 Highland avenue from 11am to 3pm.
