A historic Barnard village home suffered substantial damage in a Tuesday night blaze that brought firefighters from four departments to the Route 12 home.

Afterwards Barnard Fire Chief Scott Mills said he hoped the structure, the home of Jon Piana and Jesy Joy, would be salvageable. No one was injured in the blaze.

The Barnard Fire Department was assisted by the departments in Bethel, Broad Brook, and Royalton.

The home is about one-tenth of a mile north of the Barnard General Store.

Yesterday, Linda Beaumariage of Barnard Helping Hands said the group has established a fund for the fire victims.

Checks, with ”Jesy/Jon” written on the memo line, can be sent to Barnard Helping Hands, PO Box 888, Barnard, VT 05031.

Donations are tax deductible, Beaumariage said.
