Tuesday - 5:30 P.M.: Healing Trauma In Our Communities
Author Tracy Penfield reads from A Curriculum of Courage: Making SafeArt
Tracy Penfield will share the history of SafeArt, SafeArt’s basic principles, and a presentation of the ways in which this new curriculum can be used to heal trauma in our communities. She will engage the audience with a combination of excerpts from the book, performative elements, and discussion.
An artist and performer, Tracy Penfield founded SafeArt after her own experiences healing from a destructive marriage and helping others to heal through creative expression. SafeArt grew from her vision to harness the natural healing qualities of creative expression in order to help heal individuals and communities from the wounds of trauma.
Wednesday - 4:30 P.M.: Ta-Nehisi Coates - Between the World and Me
The “Woke Wednesdays” Book Club invites you to join them for a monthly series of discussions focused on a selection of works highlighting the experiences of Black Americans. The first meeting will take place at 4:30 PM on Wednesday 29 March, when they will discuss Ta-Nehesi Coates’s Between the World and Me.
Brad Archer, Mary Ellen Solon and Sonny Saul will facilitate the discussion. The book club plans to meet every last Wednesday of the month, beginning in March.For more information, contact Brad Archer.
Thursday - 2-4 P.M.: Thursday Afternoon Knitting Group
Knitters are invited to meet on the mezzanine of NWPL Thursday afternoons. All knitters are welcome – from beginners to experts. We will knit together, learn together, and provide each other assistance when needed. Plan to bring your current project, knitting questions or problems, or a pattern to share.
