Former member of the Old School Baptist Church in Warwick. She loved to read, crochet, and work on crossword puzzles.
White River Junction, VT- Emma S. Vail, 89, died peacefully Saturday March 4, 2017 at Brookside Nursing Home in Wilder, VT while surrounded by family.
A daughter of John J. Secor and Maude (Brown) Secor, Emma was born February 11, 1928 in Ashokan, NY where she grew up and graduated from high school. She went on to further her education at New York University, graduating with a bachelors degree. Emma was married to Albert R. Vail Jr. in April of 1941 and lived in Warwick, NY. She worked as a bookkeeper at Carol-Ann Produce in Goshen, NY and also as a night bookkeeper at the Albert Wisner Public Library in Warwick. Albert died in 1996, and in 2006 she moved to White River Junction to be nearer to her son.
Emma was a former member of the Old School Baptist Church in Warwick. She loved to read, crochet, and work on crossword puzzles.
She is predeceased by a brother Edwin “Buddy” Secor; and two sisters, Celeste McGrath and Gertrude Secor.
Emma is survived by two sons; Braedon Vail of Wilder, VT and Wendon Vail of Dacula, GA; two daughters Taralee Hadowanetz of Hamburg, NJ and Danara O’Connor of McKinney, TX; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, George Secor of Arlington, TX.
A visitation will be held 6-8pm Friday, March 10 at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT. A private interment will be held in St. Stephens Cemetery, Warwick, NY at a later date. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
