Here you will find listings of Upper Valley farms and the positions they are hiring for. Some positions are for experienced farm workers while many jobs don't require experience, just a willingness to commit to show up and work hard. Some are for part-time seasonal while others offer full time or year round employment. Each farm has its own systems and options; find the one that fits your goals! 

Here's some helpful information if you're considering working on a farm:

  • In addition to wage, stipend, or salary, many farms offer great perks like free or discounted veggies, flexible scheduling, swim breaks, performance raises, farm swag, and more.
  • You get to work outside which is amazing when the weather is perfect!! But remember, farm work happens every day, regardless of weather, so be prepared to happily work when it's raining, hot, and/or buggy.
  • Tasks tend to change daily and seasonally, so flexibility is required.
  • Working on a farm is the best way to learn if you are a future farmer. If you are thinking of a career in agriculture, most farmers are happy to share their knowledge with the next generation.
  • Be ready to have fun! Farming is hard, but incredibly rewarding.
  • A willingness to learn and a positive attitude is a must! 
  • Farms and jobs vary, so if you're mechanically inclined, or detail oriented, or get satisfaction from completing a task, or like to work alone there is a job to fit what you are looking for.

Crossroad Farm, Fairlee, VT

Crossroad Farm is a sixty acre vegetable farm in Post Mills, VT, one half mile from Lake Fairlee. For over 35 years our extended family and crew have been practicing sustainable agriculture. We grow a wide variety of vegetables, specializing in greens and tomatoes, as well as strawberries, melons, flowers, and bedding plants. Our produce is sold at our two farm stands and delivered to restaurants and grocery stores throughout the area.

Luna Bleu, South Royalton, VT

Well-established diversified certified organic farm in central Vermont, growing food for our community for over 25 years. On our 42 acre farm, we grow 5 acres of vegetables, raise cattle, pigs, and chickens for egg and meat production, and have a small orchard with blueberries, apples, and plums. We grow and market year round through our CSA, Saturday farmers market, and a few local businesses. Season extension and winter growing in high tunnels is an expanding part of our operation. We work hands on with our employees to share the knowledge we have gained over our years of farming and encourage employees to take advantage of the rich agricultural opportunities in the Upper Valley of Vermont. We are relatively small in size but our diversity with crops and animals means we have lots of fun every day!

Mountain School

During the summer, we hire a group of five or six alumni and others with an excellent work ethic who are looking to immerse themselves in an intensive farm experience. For the months of June, July and August, the farm crew works to take care of every aspect of the Mountain School farm. They care for the animals, do daily chores, plant seeds and transplant seedlings, weed and weed and weed, bring in the hay and harvest the summer crops.
