From Dwinell Charitable Trust
COVER Home Repair, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received approval of a major grant award from The Lane and Elizabeth C. Dwinell Charitable Trust, Bank of America, N.A. Trustee to fund its home repair and weatherization program for low income families in the Upper Valley for 2017. The mission of The Lane and Elizabeth C. Dwinell Charitable Trust is to strengthen the community and support positive social change in the State of New Hampshire.
COVER helps accomplish this mission in a number of important ways including:
By organizing volunteers to work in collaboration with homeowners to make urgently needed
repairs including roof replacements, building access ramps, sealing homes against cold air drafts,
installing LED bulbs, and making safety improvements like grab bars.
By re-connecting families to neighbors in their community, COVER helps restore hope that others care and respect their needs.
By selling donated furniture, appliances, and building materials, The COVER Store keeps these items out of landfills and can purchase the building materials necessary to perform the urgent repairs.
By pricing these items to meet the needs of homeowners shopping on a restricted budget, the COVER Store helps homeowners make additional repairs on their own. According to Phil Vermeer, volunteer Board President and resident of Enfield, CT: “COVER completed over eighty (80) urgently needed home repair jobs in 2016. While there is lots more work to do in 2017, we are very grateful for the continued support of the Dwinell Charitable Trust.”
