Barbies and brothers, and why they don't mix...

Growing up on Jones Hill I didn't have many girls to play with. I was 10, and had 4 brothers, all younger. Next door was a dairy farm owned by Mrs. Howard. She was in her 70's and her granddaughter lived with her. We became friends and it was my first encounter with Barbie. She had a Barbie dynasty. When a new one came out, she got it. I questioned the Barbie boobs. She got in a tiff.."Well, that's what grownups look like." I thought of my mom, short and flat chested.  It didn't quite come together. I asked for a Barbie for my birthday, and there she was, all blond and busty! I was in heaven! I made her clothes and built her homes out of shoe boxes. I created stories about her life. I became Barbie in my head, a model. And then, Barbie got scalped... My brothers loved anything to do with fishing and had watched a show about fly fishing. They made bamboo rods, and practiced casting i in the field for hours. Then came the big day! They needed flies! And Barbie's hair was cut , serving a better purpose in their eyes. I tried to get my father to beat them, but he wouldn't...
