A night after defeating Woodstock 1-0 in OT, the Canes hockey team beat Lebanon 2-1 in the championship game of the Philippe H. Bouthillier Classic at Barwood Arena.  And like Tuesday's game, Ben Rouillard played a big part in the win.  After Nathan Chickering gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead in the 1st period, Rouillard tied the score in the 2nd while the Canes were on a 5-3 power play.  Rouillard fired a wrist shot over the goalie's shoulder from the left circle about midway thru period 2 for his 2nd goal in 2 nights.  The Canes got the game winner midway thru the 3rd period when Korrigan Allen knocked in a rebound off a rush & shot by Rouillard.  Ben Rouillard finished the two day tournament with 3 points (2G, 1A).

Meanwhile, 90 miles north in Barton, the boys basketball team won their 2nd game in a row knocking off Lake Region 71-68.  In a close game throughout, the Canes led 19-18 after 1, 38-35 at the half and 52-50 after 3.  In the 4th quarter the Canes started to pull away but the Rangers hit 2 consecutive 3 pointers to close the gap and missed a 3 pointer at the buzzer that would have tied it.  The Canes had 4 players in double figures led by Gavin Farnsworth's 24 points while Hunter Perkins added 14, Triston Potter 12 & Austin Gaudette 11. Riley Urie led Lake Region with 29 points.

"The boys responded very well tonight after a long road trip and tough environment to grind out a win." said coach Steve Landon.  "We scored the ball better tonight against a very quick and athletic Lake Region team.  They are one of the tougher teams on our schedule this season, very well coached."  Added Landon "Hunter Perkins played a very solid game on both ends of the floor.  Gavin Farnsworth and Tristan Potter stepped up as seniors will and shot 10-12 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter."

The Canes improved to 2-2 on the season and host rival Woodstock Friday night.

Category 5 Hurricane Players of the Game:  Ben Rouillard and Gavin Farnsworth.  Rouillard was involved in all three goals in the two day tournament scoring twice and adding an assist on Allen's game winner tonight.  Farnsworth scored a team high 24 points shooting well from deep early and from the free throw line late.
