U.S. News and World Report has ranked Dartmouth #5 on its list of best universities for veterans. (Stanford was first.)

The criteria the magazine used to rank the schools included:

• The institution is certified for the GI Bill.

• The institution participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program or is a public school that charges in-state tuition to all out-of-state veterans.

• The institution is in the top half of its U.S. News ranking category and had 20 or more students who used GI Bill benefits to partially or fully finance their tuition and fees during 2015-2016.

There is one huge benefit the magazine missed. Dartmouth supplements GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon funding to guarantee full tuition for every veteran student selected because the college is part of the Posse Foundation's Veterans Program.
