Take the Challenge: Shop Local This Holiday
A Local Holiday Gift Giving Guide for the Upper Valley
I used to go to the mall to do my holiday shopping as a special outing with my family, but now that I’m older I find most of what I would’ve gotten at the mall is right here in the Upper Valley.
Take the challenge and buy all your gifts this year locally. The Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 26th is Small Business Saturday: the perfect opportunity to take on that challenge!
Places to Shop by Town
The Powerhouse Mall is a great place to do your holiday shopping with lots of great stores and a relaxed shopping atmosphere. Don’t forget to stop by the chocolate shop, Something Sweet.
White River Junction
I love walking around White River. There are a variety of small shops from home décor at Uncommon Home to clothing at Revolution. I even have a post about shopping for teens here You can find a list of shops in the White River Junction area here.
Hanover is a great place to find that special gift for a loved one. Once for a gift we looked around to find a dress coat and had success at Talbots. There are a lot of great shops for men and women including apparel, home decor, and more. I’ve included a list of their stores here but I just like wandering and seeing where the day takes me.
If you have friends that don’t live in the area or you just want to celebrate the awesomeness that is New England, you gotta check out the Quechee Gorge shops. I found some cool mugs, super comfy slippers, and great local food products. There are more shops here.
After your trip to Quechee, drive over to Woodstock and enjoy the stores there. Woodstock is such a quaint town with a lot of artisans. I particularly like the art galleries and the cool vintage store, Who is Sylvia.
Happy holiday shopping! Stay tuned for more gift giving ideas.
