Explainers and Escapes

It was a long, bruising Presidential campaign and there’s still a lot of division and discontent in the country. How about something to read other than the news?

For those looking for nonfiction books on history, understanding, and action, The New York Times has an excellent list, and  as does the blog Book Riot.

If you’re like me, you’d could use some uplifting fiction to take your mind off the election. Below are titles that others have suggested and that I have read myself and enjoyed.

The Alchemist

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

The Help

Mr. Penumbra’s 24 hour Bookstore

Ready Player One

The Rosie Project

A Christmas Carol (‘tis the season, after all)

What reading appeals to you this post-election?
