Harry Potter Happiness in Springfield, VT
Cinema goes all out for Halloween Harry Potter marathon
Who knew Springfield, Vermont should be a mecca for Harry Potter fans?
The Springfield Cinemas 3 has been having a Harry Potter film festival. I caught a matinee of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (only $5!), and it was AMAZING! The cinema has three screens and is showing the Potter films on their finest.
Before you get to that point, Potter fans are in for a treat; the lobby and the theater are decorated to the nines in film memorabilia. Candles and pumpkins are suspended from the ceiling a la the Howgwarts Great Hall. At the register there is an animated edition of the wizarding paper, The Daily Prophet. A Lucius Malfoy Death Eater costume is on display, along with many images of the dashing Gilderoy Lockhart in picture frames as if they’d be gifted to the cinema by the wizard himself. Head down the hall to the theater, the door to which is adorned with “torches,” for more Potterabiliia. Did I mention you can buy butterbeer and chocolate frogs at the concession counter?
The theater has stadium steading and was adorned with jack-o-lanterns (one in the likeness of Severus Snape). The screen is huge and sports 7.1 digital surround sound.
The whole effect was charming and welcoming (and not expensive!). The Harry Potter Halloween Marathon concludes Monday but the exhibit will remain up for a while, at least until the premiere of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them November 18. Don’t miss it; hop on your broom and fly right down!
