DUI arrest after 106 mph ride from Sharon to Hartford
Rhode Island speeder suspected of drunk driving
HARTFORD, VT - A Rhode Island woman who was stopped late Sunday evening after a state trooper clocked her traveling at 106 mph south down Interstate 89 was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Vermont State Police Senior Trooper Stacy Corliss arrested Kelly Spencer, 36, of Coventry, Rhode Island shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday evening at the conclusion of the traffic stop.
Trooper Corliss spotted the speeding vehicle at Mile Marker 6 and then caught up with it at Mile Marker 3, which is just south of Exit 1 - the Quechee Exit, on I-89 in the town of Hartford.

Trooper Corliss said Spencer refused to take a roadside breath test but wrote in her report, "Further investigation revealed that the operator was intoxicated and she was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. She was transported to Hartford Police Department for processing, and later released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windsor Criminal Division to answer to the charges of DUI and Excessive Speed," at an arraignment scheduled for October 25th in White River Junction.
