By John Seaver
The Hartford boys soccer team seems to be finding their stride midway through the season. On Monday at Maxfield they defeated their 2nd straight D1 MVL rival with a 2-0 win over the visiting Colonels of Brattleboro to improve to 6-2-1 on the season. Senior captian Ben Rouillard got the games first goal at 26' on an assist by Pat McGlone. Mac Sunde scored to make it 2-0 at 53' with an assist from Kyle Prior.
Hurricane goalie Jordy Allard recorded the shutout (2nd in a row) having to make just 2 saves.
Coach Kevin Guilbault said "We struggled to get going early on, but came on midway through the first half. We missed a bunch of good chances in the first half. And missed a bunch more in the second half, but we didn't give them much at all."
With the win, Hartford sits solidly in the second spot in the state division 2 standings behind unbeaten Lake Region (8-0). Brattleboro's record falls to 4-4-1 on the season.
The Hurricanes next game is Thursday vs Woodstock at Maxfield at 4:00.
