New Hampshire Fish and Game says that 11,936 adult ring-necked pheasants will be purchased and released across 65 stocking sites in 43 towns for this year's hunting season. Sites will be stocked just prior to opening day—October 1—and then on either a Thursday or Friday through October 21.  About 140 birds will be released at each site.

There are new rules hunters must follow this year. All pheasant stocking sites statewide will be closed to pheasant hunting until noon on in-season stocking days, due to safety concerns for Fish and Game staff, hunters and the integrity of the pheasant program.

Stocking sites in the Upper Valley: the Mascoma River Wildlife Management Area in Canaan; Lower Shaker Village Wildlife Management Area in Enfield; and four locations in Claremont (Route 12/Grissom Lane; Sugar River Drive/Case Hill Road; Route 12A/Jarvis Hill; Route 12A/Intersection of Grissom Lane).
