DEMAGOGUERY: The Republican strategy for gaining political power by appealing to the ignorance, prejudices, emotions, fears, vanities and expectations of the public - typically by impassioned rhetoric, lies, slander and propaganda, often using nationalist, populists and religious themes as a cover for the orator's and his own party's incompetence, corruption and tyranny (including treason against the American public through sabotage and obstruction of the People’s important business in government and in the economy).
Further GOP corruption: illegally using and wasting government resources, demonizing, attacking and attempting to destroy political opponents while pushing an extremist right wing agenda. And attacking government institutions, the IRS for example, for scrutinizing conservative organizations (never mind that all non-profits are scrutinized).
Conservative religious groups have been violating tax exempt rules by turning their churches into hotbeds of right wing politics. Now, they want to “impeach” the Director of the Internal Revenue Service for scrutinizing them. But that’s not all: Conservatives want to abolish the Department of Educations and use our tax dollars to fund their religious education. They are trying to impose prayer and the teaching of creationism in public schools! This (and more) they consider “Freedom of Religion” – the freedom to impose their religious beliefs onto all of American society while claiming that they, religious conservatives, are being “persecuted” by the rest of us.
The real truth: Conservatives are terrified that America is losing its “whiteness”. A study from a few years ago found that the U.S. population is becoming “younger, browner and more progressive”. This is an anathema to conservatives: They are losing their white majority – and power – and that terrifies them. They want white Christian supremacy. Perhaps their favorite Christmas song, instead of being “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas”, should be “I’m Dreaming of White Christians”. The “Religious Right” converts to “Religious White”. All under the guise: If your “religious” you’re Republican, and if your Republican, you’re “religious” – and nobody else counts for anything.
It is a documented historical fact that the United States of America was formed as a secular nation. American conservatives vehemently deny this fact and expend a lot of time and energy trying to destroy the very word “Secular”! They are determined that we all should tote around the Bible, quote scripture and practice white Christianity. We should have an official white nationalist religion (to the exclusion of all other religions of course). But mention “Secularism”? This sets conservative’s hair on fire! Our forefathers DID NOT intend The United States to be a secular nation they say!
