Suzanne Lupien asked dailyUV to print the text of her announcement that she's running for the Norwich Selectboard. Here's a transcription of her handwritten notice:
Astronomers have detected an intriguing celestial pattern emerging in the Northern Hemisphere directly above Norwich, Vermont of all places. And although it's a little early to tell, it appears that a long awaited and hoped for harmonic pattern may be forming which could have revolutionary consequences in community life there, this dynamic first making itself visible on the Selectboard. If our calculations prove true, this beleaguered community will have, for the first time in anyone's memory, a governing body both willing and able to work together to create an honorable and functional process, and embark on an entirely new era.
If this thing pans out, there will actually be three board members who grew up together in this very town, and whose combined life experiences here total a whopping 150 years! Imagine!
As if that weren't enough, even their parents knew each other, respected each other and worked together, volunteering in town in a variety of ways, together! At the Fair, at Root District horse shows and in the school library this generation cooperated regularly for the good it did, and because they loved it here and weren't leaving, either.
Literally thousands of hours of connection are behind this coalescing constellation, which can but augur well for long troubled Norwich and one cannot help but feel encouraged for a happier road ahead.
