Anyone who drives out Turnpike or New Boston during the summer has likely seen our sea foam blue 1965 VW Beetle in our driveway. Or one of us driving it through the Upper Valley on nice days.
Well, in honor of it's 50th birthday -- and recognizing we're not giving it the attention it deserves -- we've decided to offer it up for raffle to benefit Second Growth, a great local organization that works to help young people struggling with substance and risk issues.
We're pricing the tickets at $19.65 apiece which means someone may well win this beauty for a song. We're hoping that price is low enough that all kinds of people will buy a ticket or two for the chance to own and drive a true classic car. Or give it to someone who would really treasure it. Or sell it on to someone who truly values the car and pocket the difference. Either way, we're hoping a lot of people will buy tickets that benefit a great cause and someone, somewhere will end up owning and loving a car we've loved ourselves.
Here's a link to pictures and details on how to buy tickets:
It runs beautifully and -- along with some typical Bug quirks -- it's really pure pleasure.
We hope you'll consider digging deep to help Second Growth and take your chance at a once-in-a-lifetime windfall.
The winner will be drawn on November 12th at Second Growth's office on Route 5.
