Long before moving to New England I'd heard about the Strolling of the Heifers Parade and this weekend will be my chance to finally check it out.  Although inspired by Spain’s Running of the Bulls, the Stroll is just the opposite: a parade of friendly, ambling heifer calves, groomed to the nines.  Saturday & Sunday, parade at 10:00am.

Roots on The River Festival, in Bellows Falls, showcases over 20 musical acts over 4 days and many are held at outside venues.  Totally homegrown, run by volunteers, and reeks of can-do yankee spirit. June 4 - 7

The National Trails Day is celebrated in lovely Strafford, Vermont with a hike walking the cross town trail, end to end and 10 miles south to north.  If that's too daunting there are several spots where you can join in during the hike. Saturday, June 6, 7:30am

National Learn-to-Row Day is Saturday and the Upper Valley Rowing club will offer free instruction and a chance to experience this ever popular sport on our beautiful Connecticut River. 9:30am
