Where we live, the level of culture seems to be way out of proportion in regards to our population. Sometimes, however, you just need to get out of the valley to reach something: a concert, a sporting event, a play or musical.
So, when you can't make the trek for great theater, look no further than Dartmouth and National Theater Live, where the best stage performances are captured live at London's National Theater and broadcast simultaneously at the Black Center's Loew Auditorium.
Two performances of note:
One of my favorite reads, Katherine Boo's Behind the Beautiful Forevers, is brought to the stage and tells of one of Mumbai's makeshift slums and the heartbreaking ambition of its residents. (May 7)
George Bernard Shaw’s witty and provocative classic: Man and Superman showcases Ralph Fiennes' prowess in a fiery philosophical debate about how we live. (May 14)
HD Simulcasts also includes The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live transmissions, and while that series has ended for the season, check out dailyUV for future performances.
