Long before moving to the area, even before having ever heard of the Upper Valley, I organized a trip to the Montshire Museum of Science for my young family and an eager group of visiting relatives. It was a huge hit with everyone: from the toddling two-year-old to the somewhat reluctant teenagers to the parents.
And what's not to love? You don't have think of yourself as a STEM kind of person to enjoy the exhibits, inside or out. My current favorite: the Musical Fence in their science park.
Coming up: the tensely hilarious Egg Drop Challenge on April 18, where you can participate in (or just watch) carefully contained raw eggs being dropped from an 18-foot-high balcony.
Next week the museum offers a vacation camp for kids with its Spectacular Science April Break Camp. Choose one day or all five to explore Astronomy, Cars and Motion, Engineering, Insects and Other Invertebrates, or Light and Illusions.
And for adults only: this Friday the museum opens its doors after hours for an evening sans kids with its popular Montshire Unleashed. Explore the museum's exhibits while enjoying a glass of wine or Jasper Murdock Ale from the Norwich Inn.
