I know. It's early. And I like winter. But a few listserv posts today caught my eye and sent my mind wandering into warmer territory. Maybe it was the photo Donna chose for her gardening post next door; or it could have been the light outside today... It carried the promise of gentle air and a light breeze, didn't it? You'll need to be registered to see these, but it's worth it just to dream, right?
- First up, you know the sap's going to start flowing soon, because over on the Thetford list someone's offering a maple evaporator for sale.
- Meanwhile, also in Thetford, Long Wind Farm has tomatoes for sale. Sure, grown in their hothouses, but as the post says, "Add a little sunshine to your day!"
- And finally, my favorite: For some time now in Strafford, Curtis Albee has been making birdhouses using old license plates for the roof. He expects to have at least 60 of them ready by the first day of spring on March 21. He's contributing a portion of his sales to the local and state food banks, and will be posting time and place for the sale in a few weeks. For the sake of your tree swallows, stay tuned!
