A parent asked a great question about bringing her elementary school-aged child to the Hungry Heart film next Tuesday night at BMU. This was a question I was thinking about too because I was thinking of bringing Emma. Well I asked BMU's Guidance Counselor who has seen the film and organized the panelists what her thoughts were on this question. Her feedback was helpful and I wanted to share it. Parents should know that the movie has profanity and deep discussions about drug usage. There are a variety of emotions that will be witnessed, as well. Many of the things in the movie may go above the students' heads but many may also have questions. If the parent is willing to have the discussions and dialogue with the students about the content, then it certainly can be appropriate.
Based on this information am going to consider bringing Emma and talk with her to see what she thinks about coming.
I hope this is
helpful to other parents that may have had the same questions.
