The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program
is designed for people at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Participants learn and engage in small
lifestyle changes including healthy eating and physical activity habits that
have been proven to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. In addition
to tracking participant weight and physical activity, the program focuses on
other aspects of overall health such as stress reduction and
This 16 week program is run by a trained Lifestyle Coach with
specific training in diabetes prevention and also includes monthly sessions for
the following 8 months. We are looking for people to participate!
To be able to participate in this
program, participants must meet the following criteria:
18+ years old
Overweight (Body Mass Index over 25)
Prediabetes or at risk of developing diabetes; previous
gestational diabetes, A1c between 5.7%-6.4%, OR a qualifying Risk Score
(please call or email to determine risk score).
This free program is open to anyone who meets the above criteria.
