Managing the Dartmouth Outing Club's Corridor Stewardship program has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I had the opportunity to get involved with the DOC and ATC after doing a 11-day hike on the AT five years ago where I re-discovered myself in every way. I returned from the 100 Mile Wilderness with a renewed sense of wonder, joy and passion.

Managing the AT Corridor Stewardship program has been a wonderful way for me to give back to the trail. If you enjoy taking a little walk on the wild side of the AT, you may come across interesting flora, viewing spots, and various fauna that you almost never get to see while hiking the trail. I've enjoyed sharing those experiences with others on monitoring hikes and wither work trips. And I especially like seeing how people are transformed after the excursion.

Unfortunately, I'm moving on and leaving the area, heading across the ocean to Madrid Spain in April. This leaves a vacancy with DOC for an AT Corridor Monitor Coordinator. If you are interested in volunteering, bushwhacking, maps & compass, engaging new volunteers, and guiding others on hikes please contact the DOC's Assistant Director Rory Gawler at rory.c.gawler@dartmouth.edu or call (603) 646-2428.
