Would you like to go away and know that your dog is having the vacation of its dreams?!?
I started Barra's Dog Heaven after taking care of a few dogs regularly for over a year with great success. I've had many new dogs out here and am looking to bring the opportunity to more people. If you're looking for a place for your pooch while you're away, then this might be the spot for you!
We have 85 acres of mostly woods and are extremely secluded. I have many regular dogs and some doggie parents have come back complaining that their dog likes me better than them! (I assure you it's not me, but the fact that they can run, romp, hike, swim, and play outdoors as they please most of the day, and have a big, warm doggie bed to curl up on when they're just plain pooped!) I bring the dogs out on 1-2 hour daily group hikes and otherwise supervise them outdoors while I'm working on chores or inside when the weather is inclement (or the day is done).
I've had great groups of dogs during the holiday season and am looking forward to helping you out with your weekend travel plans or those upcoming vacations!
Dog candidates must be off-leash trained (though I could help with this!) and get along well with other dogs, horses, and poultry (though do note that all poultry is fenced in and inaccessible to your furry friend!). Please, no fence jumpers and no aggressive dogs! Puppies welcome! Preference given to medium and large dogs, though I would be willing to interview smaller dogs, just ask. Day visits, overnights, short-term and long-term stays welcome! References available on request. Pick-up and drop-off available, though not preferred.
I just created a facebook page. While it's minimal you can check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/HomesteadDogHeaven
Please call or e-mail for rates, dates, and to schedule an interview. I look forward to hearing from you and to the possibility of caring for your pooch!
Many blessings as the weather turns to winter,

About Me: I currently have two dogs of my own and have worked professionally as a dog trainer/pack leader/dog hiker. At one point I had a pack of four dogs and am well versed at working with groups of pooches. I've had dogs my whole life and fall in love with each and every one I meet! Currently I'm homesteading off-grid, working on a memoir and collection of poetry, running a home-based gluten-free/vegan baking business, working a few hours for a local potter, and performing as a singer-songwriter. Because I make my own hours I am quite flexible with my schedule and can usually accommodate people's dog-care needs.
