Subject: Willey Hill Rd----please don"t pave upper end

I live up on 247 Maple HIll Rd, so travel Willey Hill all the time.
I am writing for 2 reasons:
** To commend the road crew for keeping Willey Hill navigable this season, mud
notwithstanding, with grading and other attention.
** To reply to a request by neighbor Bill Pierce, who via the Norwich listserv has
encouraged neighbors to write you in support of paving upper Willey Hill. I DO NOT
FAVOR PAVING it, and all the moreso since I learned at Town Meeting what the cost
of road paving is. I hope you won't pave it. Yes, please continue to do a good job
during the few very muddy weeks a year.
I think Andy and crew do a fine job keeping the short, problematic stretch of Willey
Hill below the Pierces in pretty good shape. And there is always the nearby
alternative route in and out via Maple Hill Road, avoiding the muddy section if it's
really bad. I've lived in other places in Vermont where mud season presented much
greater challenges than this Willey Hill stretch.
That's my two cents.
